Good News!

This morning we had a surprise visit from a representative from Good Samaritan Rehap center in Puyallup.  We were impressed that she drove up to meet us.  After visiting with her we deicded that this would be best for her since she could get a minimum of 3 hours of intensive rehab vs 1hour. We were impressed with their facility and they were willing to take her and felt she could handle the rehab.  So she met with mom and explained everything to her. The social worker put in a request for insurance. We needed approval by 4:00 for her to be moved today. Unfortunately the insurance rep said she was too busy to handle it today. So Harborview asked her to transfer it to someone else. Supposedly, she did. We also needed approval by 5:00pm to tranfer her on Saturday. If we didnt get it then we would have to wait until Monday to transfer her.  Robin, Grandma and I are all flying out on Saturday and we really wanted to move her today.  Good Sam and Harborview both called all day long and couldnt get the insurance rep to return their calls. We were pretty frustrated.  Then at  5pm the social worker (who stayed 1 hour longer at work)  came through the door and said the Good Samaritan got special permission to take mom without permission from the insurance company.  They said they felt she met all criteria and they would get permission on Monday from the insurance.  This made us a little nervous but they assured us they would cover all costs if the insurance company turned us down.  I guess they had verbal permission but needed it in writing. So hopefully all will go well.  We move to Good Samaritan tomorrow at 9am!  WOOO HOOOO!!

A highlight of the day was a visit from moms sister Berniel and her husband Brent from Prosser Washington.  I forgot to tell mom they were coming.  While we were at lunch they showed up and surprised her. I was so amazed at how good she looked when we walked into the room. She has so happy they came and was actually smiling.  She really enjoyed their visit and it was a great boost for her. Thank you Aunt Berniel and Uncle Brent!
See the smile on mom's face :)
